Undoubtedly, Jian Yi is one of the important inventions of Chinese astronomy and represents the superb level of ancient Chinese technology. As a testimony of the history of Chinese science and technology, Jian Yi is also the pioneer of similar devices of astronomical instruments in later generations. Its equatorial device and horizon are the prototypes of modern large telescope equatorial devices and horizon latitude meters.
