Chinese scientists have obtained the first batch of cosmic viewing field X -rays focusing on imaging sky maps

On August 27th, at the Second China Space Science Conference held in Taiyuan, researchers from the National Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences released the first batch of EP-WXT roads. The device is an experimental module of the Einstein probe (EP) satellite wide field of view of X -ray Telescope (WXT). On July 27, 2022, Beijing time was equipped with a new technical test satellite launch. The experiment aims to conduct a series of rail testing and observation experiments, laying the foundation for the future EP satellite to carry out scientific operation as soon as possible.

The instrument uses an advanced microphobic lobster -eye X -ray to focus on imaging technology. Observation viewing fields can reach 340 square meters. It is the first internationally wide -view field X -ray focusing on looking telescope. Compared with other international X -rays focusing on an imaging telescope, its field of view has increased by about 100 times. Up to now, the instrument has carried out a 4 -day orbit test observation, and has successfully obtained a group of real X -ray measured images and energy spectrum of a group of celestial bodies. This is the first international X -rays that have been obtained and released internationally.

Scientists used the instrument to first observe the central area of ​​the Galaxy. The results show that a single observation can detect X -ray sources in multiple directions at the same time, including star -rated quality black holes and neutron stars. Observation also captures a neutron X -ray double star with X -ray radiation. At the same time, the information of these celestial X -ray radiation can also be obtained from the data, as well as the X -ray energy spectrum of celestial bodies. The observation results are highly high compared to the simulation results. The instrument also observes the near -neighboring galaxy of the Galaxy -Damagelun Cloud. A single observation can cover the entire galaxy. At the same time, it detects multiple X -ray sources containing black holes and neutron stars.
