The relevant person in charge of the China Consumers Association said that the luxurious overplayed moon cakes not only directly harm consumers' rights and interests, allowing consumers to bear unnecessary expenses, but also caused many problems such as waste of resources and environmental pollution, which has attracted widespread society.

The State Administration of Market Supervision, together with the relevant departments, and issued the "Restricted Commodity Excessive Packaging Requirement Food and Cosmetics" (GB 23350-2021) National Standard No. 1 modification form, has been implemented on August 15 this year. In order to curb over packaging moon cakes, the new standards clearly reduce the number of packaging layers, and the number of packaging layers of moon cakes from not exceeding the four layers will be reduced to up to three layers. It is equivalent to reduced the volume of packaging by 42%; reduced packaging costs. For moon cakes with a sales price of more than 100 yuan, the proportion of packaging costs accounted for 15%from 20%to 15%.
