Among the three major authoritative cities in the world, Shanghai has been among the first camp

On the last day of 2012, the "Liberation Daily" reviewed the "sound setting" of the year. One of the sounds was: "The reason for Shanghai like Shanghai? There is no reason to grow here." That year, a certain agency collected "I like Shanghai like Shanghai. "99 reasons", he has discussed the city for a while, and for more than a month, netizens feedback more than 600,000 through Weibo. A "unreasonable love" given by an old man in an interview with a TV station was fixed on the newspaper.
In 2012, the British magazine's "Economist" made a calm revision, and the Chinese reported from the "Asian" sector to set it into an independent column. The editor -in -chief said: "This is the first time in the past 70 years to set up a single country after the American column." Because China has attracted more and more attention from global readers. As a economic center, it is naturally the focus of the "China" column.
Ten years later, Shanghai used continuous development to tell the local old man and global observers that their original "like" and "follow" was correct.
The three ranks rose at the same time
Looking back at these 10 years, the perspective of evaluating Shanghai's development can be qualitative. For example, the sky is blue, the water is clearer, or it can be quantitative. For example, the city's GDP has jumped from 2.13 trillion yuan to 4.32 trillion yuan. The disposable income of residents has increased from 38,600 yuan to 78,000 yuan.
Another intuitive evaluation system is to compare cities to the world, and see how its ranking changes in the past 10 years. This is not compared with the past, but compared with competitors who are also developing, so it has more realistic reference significance.
There are three major lists -GAWC Global Urban Ranking, Global Financial Center Index (GFCI), and Xinhua Baltic International Shipping Center Development Index (ISCDI). In the past 10 years, Shanghai's ranking in these three lists has risen to varying degrees.
GAWC is known as the world's most authoritative urban rating agency. The focus of GAWC is not the scale of the city, but to outline their connections with global and evaluate their "node" role in the global city network. In this list, Shanghai rose sixth in 2012 to fifth in 2020 (the latest data).
The second ranking -the global financial center index is the world's most authoritative financial center competitiveness evaluation standard. It was compiled by the British Think Tank Z/YEN Group and (China · Shenzhen) Comprehensive Development Research Institute, which focused on indicators such as talent and commercial environment, financial market flexibility, adaptability, and development potential of each financial center. On this list, Shanghai rose from eighth in 2012 to fourth in 2022.
The third ranking -the development index of the Xinhua Baltic International Shipping Center is the vane and barometer of the global port aviation industry. On this list, Shanghai rose seventh in 2014 (earliest data) to third in 2022.
After 10 years of hard work in Shanghai, in these three authoritative cities, they are well ranked among the first camp.
Behind the ranking is "function"
It is not difficult to find that none of these three lists are not a certain economic indicators, and they are not "scale", but some "function" of the city. The strong function has become the main direction of the high -quality development of the oversized cities.
New York and London, which occupy the top of the city all year round, are strong functional cities. They can gather internal and external radiation, and "nodes" and "links" in China and international responsibilities. This is also in line with Shanghai's goal positioning -domestic large -cycle central nodes and domestic and international dual -cycle strategic links. In other dimensions, the high -quality development of Shanghai is to continuously strengthen the "four major functions" of global resource allocation, scientific and technological innovation sources, high -end industries, and open hub portals.
At the end of 2021, a award -winning information excited the Shanghai scientific community: at the National Science and Technology Awards Conference, Shanghai took the first time to win the National Natural Science Award of Natural Science, the National Technology Invention Award, and the "Three Awards" of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. Among them, Zhao Dongyuan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor at Fudan University, has won the first prize of the National Natural Science Award for "Ordering Pole Polymer and Carbon Materials". This award was vacant in nearly half of the first 20 years, and the last time Shanghai scientists won this honor 18 years ago.
This study led by Zhao Dongyuan has opened up a new direction of nano -science and is hailed as a pioneer and milestone by the industry. He revealed: "That key papers are only thin 7 pages of paper." For this critical 7 -page paper, more than 1,500 scientific research institutions in more than 60 countries and regions in the world have followed. Jiekou polymer and carbon materials have published more than 40,000 papers.
The 7 -page paper leads tens of thousands of papers, which is exactly the function of Shanghai's diligent scientific and technological innovation strategies -take responsibility for new academic ideas, new scientific discoveries, new technological inventions, and new industrial directions. Card neck technology has formed international leading ideas and standards in basic research and development, application technology, achievements, and new industries, new technologies, and new formats, and finally leads a new trend of global science and technology development.
In the past 10 years, with the continuous strengthening of the "four major functions" such as scientific and technological innovation sources, Shanghai's urban energy level and core competitiveness have increased year by year, and this is the inherent reason for rising cities.
Things that cannot be measured in urban rankings
Ten years ago, when people answered "99 reasons for Shanghai", we should not mention the city rankings we discuss here. After all, this is unable to be physical.
Because the city ranking can explain the problem, it has also missed a lot of vital things -it does not take into account the quality of education, cultural life, leisure and entertainment, no measurement of the citizens' hard work and wisdom, and not measuring their love for the city; It can tell us what happened in the city, but did not tell us what it means to people living in the city. Observing a city, ranking is not enough.

On the first day of 2022, the Liberation Daily published a message in the title "Leave the best resources to the people and share it." It gives us another perspective outside the city ranking.
Sources said that on the last day of 2021, the Shanghai World Expo Cultural Park (North District), which the general public expect, officially opened. There is a 400 -meter "Time Seal Avenue" in this park, showing the historical changes in this area: from the location of the steel industry, to the Shanghai World Expo, and now the people shared the large park.
This is not a 10 -year change history of a city: economic development and functional conversion, and all of this is to better let the people share.
