Hurun released the global unicorn list in 2022: Douyin, SpaceX, and Ant Group in the top three

On August 30, the Hurun Research Institute released the "Global Unicorn List in 2022", which lists non -listed companies worth more than $ 1 billion after 2000. The deadline for the calculation of this list is June 30, 2022.

The Hurun Research Institute found a total of 1,312 unicorn companies worldwide, distributed in 48 countries and 259 cities. On average, these companies were established eight years ago, 2014. 80%of sales software and services, only 20%of physical products. 52%are B2B companies, and 48%are directly facing consumers. The most affected industries affected by unicorn companies are financial services, corporate management, medical health and retail. The total value of global unicorn companies is worth 2.7.9 trillion yuan, surpassing German GDP for one year.

The valuation of 592 unicorn companies has increased within half a year, of which 369 are on the list. 228 valuations declined, 81 of which "downgraded" last year -the valuation fell below $ 1 billion and withdrew from the list. 34 unicorn last year "upgraded" and withdrew from the list (25 were listed and 9 were acquired). 573 valuations remain unchanged.

The average age of unicorn companies was 44 years old, which means that they created the company at the age of 36. Unicorn companies have average two joint founders. One -third is a consecutive entrepreneurs who sold the previous startups. 40%of the co -founders met in the previous job, and one -eighth was met in college. Computer science and business are the most commonly studied majors in the founders. At least one fifth of the unicorn companies from unicorn are outside the country. The United States, especially Silicon Valley, attracted the co -founders of unicorn from overseas, followed by Europe. Among the unicorn founders of immigrants, the most from India, followed by China, Israel and Russia.

The top ten unicorn this year account for 17.6%of the total value of global unicorn companies. Five of them are from China, 3 from the United States, and one from Britain and Malta. Among them, Douyin preserved the highest global unicorn title with a valuation of 1.3 trillion yuan, but the valuation decreased by 43 %; Elon Musk's Valuation of SPACEX in California increased by 25 % to 840 billion yuan. More than Ant Group, the latter's valuation decreased by 20 % to 800 billion yuan.
